About Box Breathing Timer

Our mission is to make nervous system regulation accessible to everyone, everywhere—completely free and without ads or sign-ups.

Why We Built This

In today's fast-paced digital landscape, stress, anxiety, and burnout are at an all-time high. Yet, one of the most powerful stress-reduction tools is built directly into our physiology: our breath.

We built Box Breathing Timer to serve as a clean, distraction-free environment for guided breathwork. By combining visual cues with high-quality audio chimes and voice guidance, we allow practitioners—from beginners to elite performers—to ground themselves instantly.

Autonomic Regulation

When we experience stress, our sympathetic nervous system enters "fight-or-flight" mode. By introducing slow, rhythmic, and paced breathing exercises (such as Box or 4-7-8 breathing), we manually stimulate the vagus nerve. This releases acetylcholine, initiating the body's parasympathetic rest-and-digest response to slow down the heart rate and calm the amygdala.

Science-First Design

All breathing patterns available in this app are rooted in clinical study or historical practice. From coherent breathing designed to maximize Heart Rate Variability (HRV), to Dr. Andrew Weil's 4-7-8 pattern targeting insomnia and chronic anxiety, to tactical breathing used in tactical environments under extreme pressure.
